Solar Innovations, Inc.’s Acoustical (STC) Sliding Glass Door system allows for a 1.5” insulated glazing unit and provides enhanced acoustical and thermal performance. The acoustical sliding glass door is the ideal solution for projects that have high STC (sound transmission glass) requirements.

Acoustic values are specific to the glazing selection; however the construction of the framing can also influence the acoustical performance. The two main components of acoustical rating are the STC (Sound Transmission Class) and the OITC (Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class).

Solar’s acoustical sliding glass door can be used to reduce unwanted noise in both residential and commercial applications. When being installed in a high traffic or industrial area, the importance of acoustic performance becomes increasingly valuable.

Additional testing and product specific testing can be completed by Solar Innovations, Inc.

Acoustical sliding glass doors are available in both dual track and multi-track configurations with multiple sill options that provide outstanding performance and design versatility. Larger sills  allow for ease of motion when operating oversized door panels.

Solar’s STC acoustical sliding door system also possesses excellent thermal performance, due to its thermal break design. When vented properly, the systems ramped sill also provides high water performance.

What is STC?

STC (Sound Transmission Class) is a rating that indicates how well a glazed unit can reduce airborne sound. Interior glass partitions, such as curtains walls, doors, windows, and exterior wall units, widely use this rating system. Because STC focuses on the reduction of sound waves, schools, hospitals, and buildings that are located adjacent to manufacturing facilities find it helpful.

What is OITC?

OTIC (Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class) is a rating that is used to describe the rate in which sound transmits between and indoor and outdoor space. OITC uses a source noise spectrum and considers environmental frequencies, such as aircraft, rail, and automotive traffic. OITC tends to put more emphasis on lower frequencies.

Exceptional STC ratings coupled with thermal performance and function are hard to find. Excellent service and continued testing have allowed Solar Innovations, Inc. to become an industry leader in the production of acoustical sliding glass doors.
