  • 1.4 Performance Requirement

  • 1.5 SUBMITTALS

    A. Submit under the provisions of Section 01300 for review and approval for fabrication.

    B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

    1. Product details.

    2. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

    3. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

    4. Installation methods.

    C. Shop Drawings: Detailed drawings and structural calculations prepared specifically for the project by manufacturer; provide stamp or seal of licensed professional engineer if required by authorities having jurisdiction.

    a. Indicate material thickness, fastener locations, glazing and hardware arrangements.

    b. Include schedule identifying each unit, with marks or numbers referencing drawings.

    c. Must show all surrounding substrates and relevant conditions.

    d. Must be drawn in the domestic USA, by the manufacturer of the system.

  • 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE

    Manufacturer qualifications: Company shall be a company specializing in the manufacturing of products specified in this section including but limited to greenhouses, doors, and operable vent systems. Manufacturer shall have at least 14 years of experience in fabrication and erection of glass and aluminum structures for projects of similar size and scope.

    B. Manufacturer must used extruded aluminum system that uses domestically produced aluminum and is fabricated/assembled in the USA.

    C. Installer qualifications: Installer shall be experienced in performing the work of this section and have at least 5 years experience erecting glass and aluminum structures. The installer will work directly for the manufacturer, providing a single source greenhouse installation. The installer must be approved by the manufacturer of the greenhouse for warranty to be valid. Manufacturer may not withhold approval of installer for undue reason(s).

  • 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

    A. Deliver products to the jobsite freight prepaid.

    B. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging, covered to protect factory finishes from damage, precipitation, and construction dirt until ready for installation.

    C. Store materials off construction grounds in a secure location that is a dry covered area and protected from weather conditions.

    D. Inspect and report any freight damages to the manufacturer immediately.

  • 1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

    A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

    B. Perform structural silicone sealant work when air temperature is above 10 degrees F (minus 12 degrees C).

  • 1.9 WARRANTY

    A. Structural aluminum system: Provide manufacturer's warranty that installed structure will be free from significant defects in material, workmanship, and uncontrolled water leakage for two (2) years from date of substantial completion. Reference original warranty for complete warranty time frames.

  • ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Under extreme conditions, warranties for glazing may be less than twenty (20) years. Verify conditions with manufacturer. Delete the following paragraph if not required or edit to suit conditions. Glazing warranty of twenty (20) years is only for glazing that greenhouse manufacturer can source through its standard glazing options.


  • PART 2 PRODUCTS

    2.1 SCHEDULING AND COORDINATION

    A. No concrete or related construction shall commence until greenhouse shop drawings are approved by the architect and general contractor.

    B. All related construction shall be governed by the greenhouse approved shop drawings.

    C. General contractor to coordinate and contract with all required trades including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, control wiring to provide the completed greenhouse environment.

    D. Field dimensions will be obtained by general contractor or architect and forwarded to greenhouse manufacturer. General contractor will be responsible for ensuring all job site dimensions will be built to the approved greenhouse shop drawings. If greenhouse manufacturer is acting general contractor all field dimensions are the responsibility of greenhouse manufacturer.

    E. Field dimensions will be obtained by greenhouse manufacturer. Architect or general contractor will confirm site readiness for field measurement site-visit.

    F. Coordinate all work with the general contractor.

    G. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer

  • 2.2 MANUFACTURERS

    B. Manufacturer must be a member in good standing of the National Greenhouse Manufacturers Association (NGMA).

    C. Manufacturers manufacturing facility must have achieved and maintain a LEED Certification of Gold or higher.

    D. Manufacturer must manufacturer structure system and all doors, windows, and vents required to complete the greenhouse structure.

    Substitution requests as per Section 01600.

  • 2.3 GREENHOUSE

    A. All materials shall meet or exceed all applicable referenced standards, federal, state and local requirements, and conform to codes and ordinances of authorities having jurisdiction.

  • 2.5 FABRICATION

    A. Fabricate components in accordance with approved shop drawings. Remove burrs and rough edges. Shop fabricate to greatest extent practicable to minimize field cutting, splicing, and assembly. Disassemble only to extent necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Install gaskets and tapes in factory.

    B. Welding:

    1. Comply with recommendations of American Welding Society.

    2. Grind exposed welds smooth and flush with adjacent surfaces before finishing; restore mechanical finish.

    ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following if internal reinforcing is not required for this project.



  • D. Fabricate components true to detail and free from defects impairing appearance, strength or durability. Contour outdoor horizontal or purlin glazing retainers to minimize water ponding and ice or snow buildup.

    E. Fabricate components to allow for accurate and rigid fit of joints and corners. Match components carefully ensuring continuity of line and design. Ensure joints and connections will be flush and weathertight. Ensure slip joints make full, tight contact and are weathertight.

    F. Reinforce components at anchorage and support points, at joints, and at attachment points for interfacing work.

    G. Glass: Accurately size glass to fit openings allowing clearances following recommendations of "Glazing Manual" published by Flat Glass Marketing Association.

    H. Cut glass clean and carefully. Nicks and damaged edges will not be accepted. Replace glass that has damaged edges.
