The intent of a retail store is to generate revenue. The public comes and shops in a retail store so the facility needs to look visually pleasing. Glass architecture can help make a store more visually appealing. Creating a storefront with glass allows customers to see into the store before entering. A window display can be changed to generate more attention. Skylights bring light into darker spaces of the building. Folding doors are commonly found as the facade of a small shop, allowing the entire front of the store to be opened. Merchandise can expand onto the sidewalk and draw more interest from passerby’s.

Strip malls are another popular application for folding doors. The retail space itself can be designed into a memorable glass sunroom or conservatory. Customers can view products and feel as though they are shopping outside. Common applications include florists, boutiques, and showroom displays. A glass entrance can be added to a traditional construction building to allow customers a place to wait out the elements before leaving the store and to act as an air lock, helping conserve energy inside the business. A sunroom can also be designed as office space for workers or a conference room to use with vendors.
