Field Positions

Installation Crew Members – All levels from entry level to crew leader.

 Skylight Installation

Summary of Position:

The Install Crew Member is responsible for a wide variety of tasks and requires familiarity with construction and masonry. Crew members need to be creative and resourceful problem solvers, with the ability to model company standards with a positive attitude. Install Crew Members should have a strong sense of customer service, and communicate thoroughly with their crew leader each day regarding their daily tasks and objectives. Applicants must be comfortable in a challenging, deadline-driven, detail oriented environment. This position requires frequent physical stamina and is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions.  Core hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, with Fridays on an as-needed basis, or as required to perform duties satisfactorily. Schedules may fluctuate depending on customer availability and/or inclement weather.  Installation workdays are typically 10-12 hours, and travel time is typically outside the core hours.

Duties Include:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Installation Crew Leader to erect and install Solar Innovations, Inc.’s basic custom glass enclosures and operable door and window systems.
  • Work with other crew members to load and unload Company trucks for each respective job, while taking the utmost care when handling each customer’s product.
  • Follow all Departmental and Company safety policies, ensuring safe working practices are a top priority on a daily basis.
  • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, ear plugs, protective tipped boots, fall protection equipment, hardhats, and back braces as needed; and follow all necessary safety procedures, including crane operating safety and hazard communication.
  • Travel to jobsites that are typically within 1 – 6 hours of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s facility; overnight travel will also be required.
  • Complete DOT training to become certified to drive Company vehicles (non-CDL) when needed.
  • Understand and follow the Hours of Service Regulations that cover all DOT drivers (< 26,001lb. vehicles), with regards to the amount of time drivers are able to operate a vehicle within a given time period.
  • Complete a daily driver’s log and timesheets for hours worked.
  • Interact with other departments, such as Project Management and Fabrication, to ensure that all shipped items are accurately accounted for.
  • Possess the general ability to read blueprints to ensure installation is completed as per the approved drawings.
  • Follow all clearly defined procedures and review installation manuals as needed to limit unnecessary rework.

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience and general knowledge of all aspects of installation of windows/doors/skylights, etc.; OR a willingness to learn
  • Experience with roofing, siding, sheet metal, and general construction/carpentry helpful.
  • Familiarity with construction and masonry tools and practices
  • Knowledge of DOT driving requirements and/or log book completion a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic terms and materials
  • Strong knowledge of power tools and their proper use and maintenance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 

Additional information about the role:

  • There are limited prevailing wage project opportunities.
  • Accepting applications for multiple levels of experience, from entry level to supervisor trainee and/or crew leader, with the opportunity to grow as experience is gained.

Manufacturing Positions

Standard 4-day work week.  Hours typically 6-4:30 Monday through Thursday, with Fridays on an as needed basis.


Fabricator – Sheet Metal

 Summary of Position: 

  • Operate a break press and folding machine
  • Read detailed blueprints for assembly
  • Assist other departments in the design of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s products

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Carpentry, metalworking, or glazing experience is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints preferred
  • Attention to detail required
  • Must be able to read a tape measure

Fabricator – Structural(Sunrooms/Skylights)

Summary of Position:

  • Construct our custom aluminum structures, including pool enclosures, conservatories, sunrooms, skylights and greenhouses in a safe shop environment.
  • Read and verify all drawings used for production in order to cut and layout all custom products using large saws and punch/drill presses
  • Assist other departments in the design of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s products

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Carpentry, metalworking, or glazing experience is a plus.

Fabricator – Window/Door (Aluminum and Vinyl)

Window and Door Fabrication

Summary of Position:

  • Aluminum window and door fabricator needed with experience in the commercial/residential window & door industry preferred

  • 1-3 years related experience preferred (window, door, and/or other glass products)

 Packer

Packing and Shipping

Summary of Position:

  •  Manually pack and protect, wrap, and label packages and crates to efficiently prepare them for shipment.
  • Assist in packing, general clean up, and fabrication as needed in a clean, safe, climate-controlled shop environment.

• Build crates based on provided dimensions to ensure products are adequately protected during shipment

 Painter/Powder Coater:

Paint Booth

Summary of Position – Painter:

  • Industrial or automotive painter to paint our custom structures using HVLP equipment
  • Must be able to work with urethane paints with 2-part epoxy primers.
  • Ability to read and complete paperwork

Summary of Position – Powder Coat Painter:

  • Operate a large batch powder-coating system
  • Assist with an existing liquid spray system
  • Utilize a chrome-free pre-treatment, 4-stage dip tank system and Wagner powder spray system to finish architectural extrusions

Skills / Qualifications for both positions:

  • Able to lift 30-50 lbs
  • Extreme attention to quality and efficiency required
  • 1-3 years of spray painting and/or powder coating experience preferred

Receiver/Material Handler

Receiver-Material Handler

 Summary of Position: 

  • Responsible for all functions and paperwork relating to receiving.
  • Operate machinery, including but not limited to: Pallet Jacks, Forklifts, Hand trucks etc.  in a safe and proper manner.
  • Maximize manufacturing potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products entering the facility, including verifying actual product against packing slips, proper handling of products coming into the facility and putting products away in their designated holding area.
  • Approve packing slips and distribute material to appropriate departments.
  • Pull material and stage for production

Truck Loader- Pickup Trucks/Trailers

Summary of Position:

  • Move materials to and from production areas, loading docks, and delivery vehicles by hand or by using a forklift, crane, or other loading equipment.
  • Manually or crane-load truck(s).
  • Safely and securely strap down products in truck for safe hauling and delivery to job sites

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must maintain load sheets on a regular basis.
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently of others

Waterjet/Laser

Summary of Position:

  • Demonstrated experience fabricating production parts using water cutting, milling, shearing, bending and other applicable processes.
  • Set up and schedule individual jobs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Use design and layouts to operate a high-pressure abrasive water jet machine to cut and trim parts from an assortment of materials, according to specifications.
  • Measure dimensions of finished part using instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Perform inspection on parts.
  • Clean machines and work area
  • Use computer to track and update jobs
  • Experience conducting equipment checks and maintenance at proper intervals
  • Ability to learn and understand quality control and inspection procedures
  • Ability to maintain and insure all associated documentation is accurate

Office Positions

Accounts Receivable Accountant

Summary of Position:

  • Seeking a highly motivated, energetic, detail-oriented individual to join the Accounts Receivable team in a progressive Accounting Department
  • Prepare and submit invoices to customers

Drafter/CAD Detailer

Summary of Position:

  • Develop accurate and detailed submittal drawings and fabrication packages that will be utilized for layout and fabrication
  • Review engineering specifications to ensure project information is drafted accurately and in a timely manner in accordance to engineering requirements
  • Identify, locate, and update all appropriate product information related to the standard configurations and/or company standards for production
  • Develop the ability to perform simple layouts, details, fastener lists, and create a bill of materials for fabrication using personal discretion to update and make suggestions for possible design and product improvements
  • Work with architects, builders, and end users to discuss design concepts and convert ideas into final drawings

 

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be organized, efficient, and detail-oriented
  • 2 or 4 year degree required
  • Intermediate experience with AutoCAD (2D and/or 3D) and Excel is preferred

Estimator/Design Technician

Estimating and Design Technician

 

Summary of Position:

  • Generate proposals, estimates, and quotations including CAD isometrics in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Assist customers with the design process, offering options for value and function
  • Aid the sales team by creating a client support network internally and externally that meets and exceeds the Company’s sales objectives
  • Review, determine eligibility, complete take offs, communicate with bidders lists, and provide bids for Spec Projects from construction lead website projects
  • Interact with architects, contractors, glaziers, and homeowners on unique projects varying in scope and size
  • Interact with in-house Engineers, Drafters, and Project Managers to collect all necessary information for a project and to provide feedback to a customer in a timely manner
  • Serve as product expert for potential clients with a positive, professional manner

Network Engineer

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Under the direction of the CIO, this position supports our current network and infrastructure. This position helps to increase performance and decrease problems on the network.

Other duties include:

  • Working on Server administration task: Active Directory, Exchange, LAN/WAN technology
  • Expert knowledge in VMWARE and VEEAM systems
  • Troubleshoot problems both hardware and software related on various platforms
  • Install and support computers, operating systems, business applications, and phone systems
  • Responsible for manaing Help Desk Tickets, including documenting and updating procedures
  • Increasing network performance and updating technology to current standards in multiple facilities
  • Asset tracking and inventory management for technology-related equipment

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or professional experience as a minimum

Human Resources Manager

Summary of Position

  • Assist with daily administrative departmental tasks.
  • Act as the direct contact for all applicants during the recruiting process.
  • Schedule phone interviews, in-person interviews, and applicant testing.
  • Administer pre-employment testing during the interview process.
  • Responsible for updating the department’s applicant tracking database and ensuring that all applications and resumes are kept on file.
  • Assist with timekeeping reports and payroll processing.
  • Prepare orientation and new hire packets.

Project Management

Summary of Position:

  • Communicate professionally with all customers, architects, contractors, and team members
  • Work as part of a Project Management team to preemptively identify potential problems and assist fellow team members with resolutions to project issues.
  • Maintain communication with current and past customers to ensure complete satisfaction on projects/services
  • Collect, organize, and communicate feedback to improve customer experience, streamline process flow, and reduce operating costs
  • Maintain project schedules through daily communication with Drafting, Engineering, Production, Accounting, and Installation Departments
  • Facilitate completion of projects within tight deadlines while ensuring profitability

Graphic Designer

Web Developer

  • Web Development/Web Design knowledge including HTML, CSS, and PHP required.
  • Moderate knowledge of Photoshop. At a minimum the individual will know how to: Resize, scale and crop. Adjust color balance and contrast. Use layers, Remove backgrounds (magic wand, stamp tool), etc.
  • Add, update, archive, and provide quality control of information, images, and video on various websites and other online delivery channels.
  • Perform routine site house-keeping by finding and archiving (or removing) orphan pages, finding and removing orphan files, and using site scanning tools to repair broken links, fix typos, and perform other general maintenance.
  • Support quality assurance (QA) by testing functionality, monitoring site performance, and reporting errors.
  • Develop templates for mailing programs, event managers, and other third-party CRM tools.
  • Analyze web application requirements, and deliver functional solutions.
  • Design and implement new features and enhancements in existing software systems.
